Talk to General Physician on Difficulty In Breathing

person-avatar

Asking for Self, Female, 15 years old, Karachi

Assalamualaikum. I have been facing difficulty in breathing for 3 months now. 2.5 months back i visited a GP and she gave me neubrol forte for muscle relaxation . I took neubrol forte for about a week or so , It provided me some relief for a few hours but my shortness of breath didn't go away. A doctor on Marham suggested Nexum/Risek as they thought it might be related to gastric issue. I took risek for about 10days . My family doctor suggested it might be anxiety or anaemia . I got Chest Xray done , CBC and IgE levels checked. Everything was normal. No abnormality found. But my family doctor said that my CBC report is a bit dehydrated , suggested Fefol for 3 months . I have been taking fefol for about 2 months now. And have not noticed any major difference. Please suggest something as I am worried about my condition.

Shortness of breath in 15 yr old is unusual and need to be looked at carefully all the medicine prescribed seems a placebo a common phenomenon in Pakistan as people feel happy about taking medicine. One needs a detailed account of history is your breathing problem persistent or episodic is it related with activity or you feel SOB all the time, any particular triggers any palpitations or chest discomfort associated. Any h/o cardiac issue any cough wheezing linked with symptoms etc any h/o blood loss like heavy periods that could cause anemia what was HB on blood counts etc. Gastric issues are not common cause unless severe reflux. In Pakistan one would question about valvular heart issues , asthma could be a cause but usually cause cough and wheezing. I think if chest x ray is normal and history not suggesting asthma and no significant anemia one should look for cardiac cause . I hope this helps
