hi
information shared is very limited to suggest any diagnosis .Please share more information is it some thing started suddenly? any h/o trauma twist etc any swelling is he able to open and close his knee completely.Any other joint involved .what is hi job any persistent kneeling bending etc
if knee is not swollen her red and norther joint involved very likely its ligamentous or cartilage issue . please talk to a clinician to get diagnosis and appropriate treatment
regards
Kashif

Aoa! Is there any swelling and redness at the knee ? Is the joint feeling hot on touch? Is he having any chronic illness and taking any medication? Did he has this kind of joint pains ever before? Is he doing any recent exercises? What is his weight?. Please get back to us with the answers of above questions for further guidance . And For the time being start some pain killer tablets and apply voltaren gel on the effected area.
