Asking for Self Female 27 , Islamabad
I had pregnancy induced hypertension, was taking aldomet for it on Dr's advice. It's been 3 weeks since I have delivered now but my blood pressure is still high. My gynecologist asked me to take labetalol for a week and see if the issue resolves but it didn't. BP was 150/110 on the last reading.
salaam. first increase methyldopa 500mg 4times and labetalol 5mg twice a day. have urinary protien.
Ok
so pregnancy realted high BP can last till 6 weeks after delivery.
if it continues high after 6 weeks, it is then high blood pressure, regardless of pregnancy.
aldomet is preferred during pregnancy, but AFTER DELIVERY, without pregnancy, IT IS NOT GIVEN as it has more side effects.
As you have now delivered, your choices are no longer restricted to only aldomet or labetalol.
I suggest you should start Tab. Norvasc (amlodipine) 10mg every day after breakfast and Tab. Nebil (nebivolol) 5mg .
please if you ask for advice via msg, FOLLOW ONLY one doctor's advice: DO NOT MIX advice from different docs as then you could be taking dangerous combinations of medicines.
Your BP needs to be checked once a day and follow up advice taken after 1 week with you past reports of urine DR, serum creatinine and serum potassium.
for that you should take online appointment by clicking

Thank you but I have a history of PPD so I was advised not to take methyldopa after delivery as it poses an increased risk.
