Talk to Gynecologist on Medicine In Pregnancy
Asking for Self, Female, 20 years old, abroad
Salaam doctor. Im 20 years old and i hav7e been suffering from spinal disc /nerves compression since long.. so the doctor prescribed me Zeegap( Pregabalin) daily at night... Ive been taking it regularly since 2 months.. Now, this week, i came to know im 5 weeks pregnant. is this medicine safe in pregnancy or should i stop it immediately? My doctor has advised to stop it altogether but I have heard you cannot stop it rather decrease the dose gradually and than stop.. Kindly guide .. thanks

assalam o alaikum.dear zeegap belongs to class of anticonvulsant.it might lead to withdrawal symptoms when stopped.you should consult your neuro doctor,regarding taper of the dose,or another alternative in pregnancy.
it's safety in pregnancy is unclear.
take folic acid 5 mg daily and at 18-20 weeks gestation..go for congenital anomaly scan.
