Talk to Gynecologist on Pregnancy & Allergy

Asking for Self, Female, 24 years old, Karachi

Patient is in her last trimester and she occasionally faces allergies from dust and pollen for that doctor has suggested zyretec. Before that patient used to take montelukast sodium medicine (myteka) as well which relives in shortness in breath and mild asthma. Can a patient take myteka (montelukast sodium) during pregnancy as well? Is it safe?

Aoa best management is that asthma should properly managed during pregnancy. So far according to studies myteka have no more effect on baby as compare to general population. So if it is controlled by anti allergic then fine. If not then 2nd line of drug can be used. Thanks
