Such cases are always a diagnostic issue between neurologist and psychiatrist.
Any how he needs proper check up both by these specialities and if a neuropsychiatric specialist available in your town that will be the best.
I am not sure have you done patients MRI brain and EEG?
if done you can share that. In these type of cases video EEG is worthwhile.Thia will ultimately tell if this episode is psychiatric or true fits(seizure).

I agree with the comments by other neurologists. We need to differentiate between epilepsy of temporal lobe vs psychiatrical disorder. Best way is to consult a neurologist, perform EEG , May require MRI brain as well.
