Sometimes its familial or genetic to have relatively low weight. Secondly if he is well otherwise, developing new skills and intelligent we may wait for a period of 6 months or so. Meanwhile increase the amount and frequency of meals and continue with iron and multivitamins. After that he has to be examined and investigated for other illnesses

Was your son delivered at term? What was his birth weight? Since what age do you have the concern regarding his poor weight gain? At what age were the solid foods introduced? What does he eat in a typical day? It is good to know that he generally remains well. Did CBC include ESR that is Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate?

I hope the formula was prepared according to the manufacturer instructions. Milk becomes insufficient source of nutrition after 6 months, hence the need to start supplementary foods at that age. Multivitamin syrups are needed to provide at least daily requirements if the child is not taking enough of them through food. They do not help in gaining weight. You said his CBC was normal. In case he has no anaemia Iron supplements serve no purpose. At the age of your son a child needs no more than 16 to 24 ounces of milk per day. That should be through a glass or at least the sippy bottle. We, the children doctors, expect a child to have started taking all types of foods cooked at home. Although you have not provided a detail about foods your son takes on a typical day I suggest you decrease his milk to the amount I suggested, stop using feeding bottle and make efforts to give more solid home foods. If you also think your son is short for age he may need some tests.

Good attempt at giving details about his food intake. From tomorrow morning write down everything your son takes, with time and quantity and post it.

Here are some baseline tests to rule out an underlying cause behind poor weight gain. Blood for ESR and CRP Levels, Blood Urea and Creatinine Levels, Serum Electrolytes - Sodium and Potassium Levels, Coeliac Screening - tissue Transglutaminase Antibodies IgA. If it has been some time since CBC was done, you may repeat it.

Excluding Semolina, your son is consuming 1,906 calories per day if the food quantities given are correct. Are you adding Semolina to the feeding bottle? Anyhow the calories consumed are far above the daily requirements for his weight. Please, double check the quantities and let me know how Semolina is offered.

Is Bacterial Flora of Stomach Detrimental for Food and Vitamin absorption and production?

If by stomach flora you mean normal gut flora, it is not detrimental to food absorption. It helps in preserving the health of the gut. Altered flora, for example after antibiotics use, may interfere with Vitamin K absorption and may even lead to bleeding disorder. Solid foods are not recommended to be added to the feeding bottle.
